Are Gangsters and Gambling Still Connected? There is no denying that many infamous gangsters have been involved in gambling in the past. But is organized crime still a part of gambling in the US? For the most part, the answer is no. Changes to pgslot gambling laws have made it easier than ever for legal gambling operators to set up shop. As a result, bettors no longer need to rely on organized crime to gamble. This does not mean that every outfit has been completely snuffed out, though. You can still find unlicensed bookies and unregulated poker games if you look hard enough. Thankfully, you no longer need to in most states. Not every state has jumped on the gambling bandwagon, however. Gambling, especially sports betting, is still heavily restricted in some states. Places like Utah and Hawaii do not allow any form of gambling, not even the lottery. Most states, though, have adopted pro-gambling legislation. In some places, such as California, there are even gambling laws on the ballot this November. The more places that legalize gambling, the smaller the role gangsters can have in gambling.
